Joseph Brotherton
Joseph hails from Tampa Bay, Florida where
he discovered his profound love for music at a very young age.
Studying privately and also attending a magnet school for the
arts in nearby St. Petersburg, accelerated his professionalism.
Joe accomplished great things while enlisted in the United States
Marine Corps as a Trumpeter which brought him to the Washington
DC area. With that experience behind him,
moving on as a free-lance musician, he became on of the highest
called trumpeters in the DC area. Some of his former instructors
include, Wynton Marsalis, Ingrid Jensen, Ron Blake, Tim Zimmerman
and many more.
Recent live recordings, performances and tours
have been with the late Ricky Loza (drummer), Greg Karukas (Warner
Bros Recording Artist), "La Layenda" (Latin Big Band),
"Thad Wilson Jazz Orchestra", "The Mustangs Band"
(classic R&B), "Milagro" (Latin Jazz Combo), "Touch
Acoustra" (Current Touring Band; Original Jazz Fusion), and
the "Joe Borhterton Trio". He has also appeared on radio,
television, and newspapers throughout Washington DC, New Orleans
and Central America
Joseph is a diverse musician, regularly performing
many genres of music and giving instruction. He has been called
"a passionate trumpeter with a big, clear tone."
Look for him in the coming months at Bossa
Bistro and Lounge (Adams Morgan, DC). Myorga Coffee Factory (Silver
Spring, MD) and abroad.
in addition:
in 2005 Mr. Brotherton and Mr. Thad Wilson
blessed the wax and collaborated with Kidgusto on a track named
"Spy Bossa" on his Rhythm and Culture 12" release
called "Movin' On". Along with inspiring horn flourishings
throughout the tune, Joe drops a beautiful trumpet solo that makes
you want to get low and let loose.

Truegrooves would like to personally Thank
Joe for his contribution to the DC area music scene and looks
forward to his collaborative efforts with TrueGrooves.
